     We welcome you to join us in the Gibbs/Cedar Grove Elementary 1st Annual 5k Fun Run/Walk, hosted by the Gibbs Elementary PTA and Cedar Grove PTA. We are trying to promote a healthy environment for our students, as well as promoting a healthy attitude in their lives including daily exercide, drinking lots of water and eating healthy foods. With health in min, there is no better way to kick off the school year than to have a Fun Run/Walk as our opening fundraiser on October 3, 2009 (rain or shine).

     This PTA “FUNdraiser” will generate the startup income needed to cover activities for our students such as cultural arts assemblies, supplement each grade level field trips, have a visiting author and artist in residence, host all of our PTA planned events such as Fall Harvest Night, BINGO, Spring Dance, Ice Cream Social, Family Picnic, and many others. Your participation in the Fun Run will help us generate funds to make these programs possible for our students.

     The 3.1-mile course runs through the Milestone Community with the starting and finishing lines at Gibbs Elementary. Water stations will be set up at the Waters House and at each mile interval. Snacks and drinks will be provided after the run/walk is finished. A 1k Fun Run/Walk for preschool and kindergarten children will run around the perimeter of the Gibbs Elementary school field. 5k and 1k participants will receive a goodie bag full of items donated by our sponsors (while supplies last). First place winners in men, women, boys and girls divisions will receive special prizes.

PARKING:

If you are driving to the Fun Run, we ask that you please park at the Waters House or on the side streets (Sun Garden Court, Hawks Nest Lane and Eagle View Way). Please try not to park on the 5k Fun Run Course. The school parking lots will be blocked off. We will have volunteers directing you where to park. If you are within walking distance of the school, we ask that you please walk as parking will be limited.

WATER STATION LOCATIONS

RESTROOMS

School restrooms will not be open. There will be two porta potties near the front parking lot of the school. The Waters House restrooms will also be open for our use.

SNACKS, DRINKS AND GOODIE BAGS

Snacks, bottled water and goodie bags will be available for all participants while supplies last. Each participant should take one of each. We will have separate goodie bags for children and adults.

CLEAN-UP

We ask that after the run is over that everyone please take a moment and help clean up the neighborhood community and school grounds. We appreciate everyone’s help.

FUNDRAISING TABLES

Gibbs and Cedar Grove schools will have a few fundraising tables at the Fun Run.

VENDOR TABLES:

1k FUN RUN (Mr. Benco)

The 1k for all those participating will begin at 8:50 am on the school field. Mr. Benco will set up a course for the children participating in the 1k. Please bring your children for line up at 8:45 am. There will be a Brownie Troop Water Station for the 1k on the school field. Goodie bags and snacks for the 1k participants will be on the field for pickup after the children have finished the 1k course.
